Polyurethane Foam Injection Materials
The majority of foundation cracks occur within the 28 day curing process after it has been poured. These cracks generally form as a result of excessive water in the concrete mix, which compromises the concrete's strength. Depending on the concrete mix, these may be visible almost immediately or after a couple of years.
Foundation cracks vary in width size between 1/16" through 1/4" (and sometimes are barely visible to the human eye - hairline width). They generally run vertically across the wall or may run on a slant. They commonly form beneath the basement's window well.
While foundation cracks generally do not pose a structural problem, they have the tendency to leak water (most cracks will eventually leak). For the repair of typical foundation cracks, Emecole recommends the low-pressure polyurethane foam injection. Our complete line of urethane foam provides basement waterproofing contractors a variety of solutions to the different types of concrete cracks encountered on the job. Our line of urethane foams are packaged in dual cartridges (view illustration).
Emecole 100
Hydrophobic polyurethane liquid which is designed to stop water infiltration or exhilaration. When compared with other hydrophobic foams, it is much lower in viscosity and especially suitable in tighter foundation crack situations.
Emecole 102
Used to repair leaking foundation wall cracks in basements and crawl spaces, as well as for tunnels, manholes, sewer lines, concrete dams and parking decks. Very flexible; used when expansion and contraction is necessary.
Emecole 104
Tough, adhering foam capable of withstanding thermal cycles and crack movement. Recommended for applications where the foundation crack will not excessively restrict the entry of the system into the wall crack.
Emecole 105
Well-suited for tight concrete cracks. Tough, adhering foam capable of withstanding thermal cycles and crack movement. Product does not shrink after foaming.
Emecole 120
Structural urethane foam. Expands up to six times its volume, suitable for the repair of structural foundation cracks with use of carbon fiber staples.
