The common wall crack usually forms after the initial settling of the foundation or because of natural shrinkage of the concrete, which can occur within a couple of months after being poured. They are usually thin, anywhere from hairline to 1/8″ wide, and are likely to be vertical. These cracks can be a nuisance by allowing in water and soil gases, including radon. The cracks most likely are already stabilized and do not pose a structural risk to the foundation. They simply need to be filled to prevent water from leaking through.
For repairing common/non-structural wall cracks, injecting with polyurethane is the best choice. Our premium polyurethane expands up to 20 times its original state of volume once inside the crack. This high expansion capability makes injection user-friendly while providing the best opportunity to completely fill the crack, providing a flexible and watertight basement wall crack repair.
Repair a common basement wall crack that is non-structural, up to approximately 10 feet. Polyurethane provides the most user-friendly injection option to permanently repair cracks. Results in a flexible and watertight repair.

Cracks that form due to foundation movement (i.e. settlement, soil pressure or freeze/thaw cycles) may compromise the basement wall if left unaddressed over time. Often labeled as structural cracks, they usually begin as hairline thin and become wider over time. They are more likely to be diagonal, horizontal, jagged or stair-stepped.
For repairing structural wall cracks, we recommend injecting with epoxy due to the added strength it provides – exceeding the strength of the original concrete. In addition, our premium epoxy sets within minutes after injection, minimizing loss of material that can leak out into the soil (a common knock against conventional epoxies). The end result is a filled crack that is both strong and watertight.
For most cases, the injection of epoxy from our foundation crack repair kits provide enough strength to permanently repair structural cracks. In circumstances where movement is still active, additional reinforcement strength may be necessary.
The added installation of carbon fiber grids provide the reinforcement. When used in conjunction with the low pressure crack injection of epoxy, repaired cracks and the surrounding area are protected from further issues. Carbon fiber grids are available in our Carbon Fiber Power Grid Kits, which include the needed components allowing for a successful do-it-yourself installation and permanent crack repair.
The low pressure injection process for repairing basement wall cracks in poured foundations is completed from the inside. This allows homeowners to inject straight into the crack, while the exterior soil provides a stop-gap to ensure that injected polyurethane or epoxy stays within the crack, resulting in a completely filled crack.
The included Surface Ports, which adhere to the front of the crack, allow for the polyurethane or epoxy to be injected straight into the crack. There is no need to drill holes into the wall, helping to save time while reducing unnecessary labor.
This cost-effective and time-efficient process is the same exact method used by professional waterproofing contractors.
